The reasons of a huge demand for polyester powder coatings curable at temperatures ranging from 150 to 160°C (instead of the usual 180°C) are:
• Economical: The lower curing temperature reduces energy consumption, electricity or gas, which it is necessary to bring powder coatings to complete hardening;
• Environmental: reducing electricity or gas consumption means also reducing carbon dioxide’s emissions (carbon dioxide considered to be the primarily responsible for the greenhouse effect by most scientists and, therefore, for the global warming of our planet);
• Coating of thick objects, with a high thermal mass, which can hardly reach 180°C in the oven.
The ST lines are now complemented by Cool SD Powder, Superdurable polyester for Low Temperature curing. Read the IPCM article for more details.
